Heroes of Kruty Street

The Maidan kids took it upon themselves to rename Moskovsky St to Heroes of Kruty St. in honor of the the young students who, without support, defended the city of Kyiv from the Russian onslaught in 1918. The Maidanivtsi, as they call themselves, pasted the following over Moscowski St. signs on buildings:

Вулиці повинні носити імена тих, хто захищав
Український народ, а не тих, хто його знищував!

вул.Московська
ВУЛ. ГЕРОЇВ
КРУТ
(Streets should be named in honor of those who defended the nation, not for those who tried to destroy it!
Moskovski St.
Heroes of Kruty St.)

[trans.-window]

Good for them! Even if the street was historically named Moskovski because it led out from the city to Moscow, there is no reason for it to continue to carry the name.

Now if they could do something about the abomination, the Lenin statue, on the corner of Khreshchatyk and Blvd. Shevchenko...
